Early Mornings and Emergency Calls: Life as a NOCO HVAC Technician
5:30 AM – Rise and Shine
The winter morning in Buffalo is still pitch black when my alarm sounds. A fresh layer of snow blankets the ground, and I know today will be busy with typical Western New York weather challenges.
6:15 AM – Daily Brief
At the NOCO facility, our team reviews the day’s service calls. Winter means plenty of heating system emergencies, especially in older homes throughout Tonawanda and Lockport. We check our inventory of parts and ensure our service vehicles are fully stocked.
7:00 AM – First Call
The day begins with a routine maintenance check in North Buffalo. Regular maintenance is crucial for:
- Preventing system failures
- Improving energy efficiency
- Extending equipment lifespan
- Ensuring safe operation
10:30 AM – Emergency Response
A call comes in from a commercial client in Lockport – their diesel generator needs immediate attention. These situations remind me why we maintain round-the-clock availability for our industrial and residential customers.
2:00 PM – Training Time
Between service calls, we participate in ongoing training. Today’s focus is on the latest energy-efficient heating systems. The industry constantly evolves, and staying current with technology is essential for providing the best service.
4:30 PM – Day’s End… Maybe
While the scheduled day wraps up, we remain on call for emergencies. Buffalo winters don’t follow a 9-to-5 schedule, and neither do we. It’s challenging work, but knowing we help keep our community warm and safe makes it all worthwhile.
Remember: When temperatures drop and systems fail, NOCO’s team is ready to respond, making sure Western New York stays comfortable no matter what Mother Nature throws our way.
